DAY 01 - 24  JUNE 2006 - TRIP TO BOURGOGNE  

 

Went by car to MACON where We took place at the nice HOTEL CONCORDE (53 euros without breakfast, room 26), had dinner at restaurant l'ARMANDIER. Before joining MACON We had a stop in BOURG EN BRESSE to visit the town and to buy some brochure about cycling in the AIN Region.

DAY 02 - 25 JUNE 2006 - DECIZE - CORBIGNY 

 

After having our breakfast in a bistrot Anna took me to DECIZE from where I started alone my Bourgogne bike trip first along the NIVERNAIS CHANNEL. After 85 kms I arrived in CORBIGNY where I choose the HOTEL LA BUISSONNIERE (49 euros without breakfast – room number 101) and had dinner in the “crèperie” “LE BACCHUS”.

DAY 03 - 26 JUNE 2006  - CORBIGNY - AUXERRE 

 

I had a coffee in a bar, bought some bananas and at 7.30 a.m. I begun to cycle to AUXERRE. After 10 kms a dog made me fall from the bike, his owner excused her self but there were any problems. I was lucky, it was not a bad dog. Always along the NIVERNAIS channel and the YONNE river I reached AUXERRE where I went to the very comfortable HOTEL NORMANDIE (66 euros included a nice buffet breakfast – room number 12) and with the swifts that flew just out the window. I bougth a salad and had it sitted in front of the AUXERRE Cathedral.

DAY 04 -  27 JUNE 2006 - AUXERRE - MONTBARD    

 

At the AUXERRE SNFC railways station  I took a bus to TONNERRE (the train was cancelled – 9,20 euros the ticket) with the bike putted under the bus. From TONNERRE i begun to cycled along the very beautiful BOURGOGNE channel. Nice wheater even if forecasts said some storm. In a “crèperie” along the path i had a salad with goat cheese and then I arrived in the little town of MONTBARD where I stayed at HOTEL L'ECU. Dinner with a kebab and some “quiches” I bought in a bakery.  24 kilometers after TONNERRE I had a puncture on the rear wheel and fixed it.

DAY 05 - 28 JUNE 2006 - MONTBARD - DIJON 

 

The best section of BOURGOGNE channel lies just few kilometers after MONTBARD. I always cycled under the border between a sunny sky and a heavy cloudy sky. And I was just arrived in DIJON when I had a great storm. I was forced to find a shelter under a bus stop roof. After waiting 45 minutes I joined HOTEL CAMPANILE (65 euros the room) and had dinner with two nicoise salads .

DAY 06 - 29 JUNE 2006 - DIJON - CHALON SUR SAONE - MACON - CHALON SUR SAONE 

 

Took the train to CHALON SUR SAONE, then I reached by bike the greenway GIVRY – CHARNAY LES MACON that allowed me to arrive in MACON from where by train I got back again to CHALON SUR SAONE. HOTEL SAINT JEAN (59 euros included breakfast)  and dinner at restaurant la NORMANDIE.

DAY 07 - 30 JUNE 2006 - CHALON SUR SAONE - MACON  

 

Cycled the same path i did the day before. In MACON I stopped and spent the nigth at HOTEL CONCORDE, same room, the number 26 (57 euros with breakfast). End of BOURGOGNE tour.

DAY 08 - 01 JULY 2006 - MACON - ANNECY 

 

After breakfast i took the train to LYON and then a bus to ANNECY where I reserved a room for me and Anna at HOTEL INTERCONTINENTAL (room 715, a very nice room for 102 euros and 8 euros more for the parking). Anna arrived by car at 17.00. After had dinner in a restaurant of ANNECY We watch on TV the match FRANCE- BRASIL.

DAY 09 - 02 JULY 2006 - ANNECY - UGINES - ANNECY - BACK HOME 

 

This time We pedaled on the ANNECY LAC's shore that has not cycleway, after joined the cycleway at the end of the lac We followed it until MARLENS and then We kept on until two or three kilometers after USIGNE discovering a new bike trek possibility. Then back to ANNECY and by car to AOSTA.
