BOURGOGNE 

(and a short section in Haute Savoie et Savoie) 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

Bourgogne is another wonderful land for biking. Many kilometers of channels and green ways allow to bike in total relax inside the heart of the "Douce France".  And after biking all day  long it is very nice to find a pretty hotel in a little town  full of history and traditions. Wines and the food are also a part of those  traditions and here it is possible to appreciate many ways to mix biking with the right way to live, that thanks also to the friendly French people always available to help You with informations and so on. 

 

  GREENWAYS AND WATERWAYS 

 

 

The trip I did was almost a ring of the whole Bourgogne: first I biked along the Nivernais Channel from Decize to Auxerre (about 190 kms). Then i took a bus in Auxerre to Tonnerre when by bike I followed the Bourgogne Channel to Dijon (about 185 kms) where I catched another train to Chalon sur Saone reaching the Givry - Charnay le Macon greenway (about 65 kms) that leaded me to Macon. Last part of the path was so nice that in Macon i got another train to Chalon sur Saone and the day after I went back by bike along the same greenway. Along the whole path there are no problem concernig lodging and restauring, with a lot of possibilities fitted for every budget and that make a such trip a very easy and pleasant tour. A good railways service allows to skip some section and to reach the area from everywhere. And if you are tired of biking you can always rent a boat and sailing the marvellous Bourgogne or Nivernais Channels . A pleasant ride in Haute Savoie and Savoie ended this little vacation.
