DAY 01 - 23 AUGUST 2005 - TRIP TO DENMARK
We left Aosta at 10.00 a.m. and We went to Kindhereim (Germany) where We spent the night in a motel.

DAY 02 - 24 AUGUST 2005 - TRIP TO DENMARK
Always by car We went to Tonder (Denmark). There We sleeped in another motel that it was also willing to keep parked the car until our return. Bought a kickstand at the local bike shop.

DAY 03 - 25 AUGUST 2005 - TONDER - EJSBERG
At 9.00 a.m. We begun our Denmark bike trip under a heavy rain. First stop was the Tonder Tourist Office where We bought a cycle map of the whole Denmark, then We reached the North Sea coast from where, along the National Cycle Route N.1, We arrived in Ejsberg at 6.00 p.m.. Anna had a puncture at km 92,4 and I fixed it with a no glue Park Tools patch. We took place in the CAB INN hotel where they gave us a nice room just under the roof.
During the trip there was always a strong wind that blowed mainly from West to East so it did not disturb us too much.

DAY 04 - 26 AUGUST 2005 - EJSBERG - RINGKOBING
Part of the trip was again under a heavy rain. Very beautiful the first section along a wood and then in the middle of the dunes. Before HvideSand We left the original path and We followed the normal road for saving time. At about 6.00 p.m. We arrived in Ringkobing at Hotel Fiordgarten. The night We left bikes locked out the Hotel.

DAY 05 - 27 AUGUST 2005 - RINGKOBING - THYBORON
Before to start cycling, at the Ringkobing Tourist Office We booked an Hotel in Thyboron and We bought the North Sea Cycle Route Bike (Denmark section) . We began to cycle at 10.0 a.m. arriving at about 17.30 in Thyboron. I lost one bolt of my rear rack and I fixed it with a new one. We had some rain.

DAY 06 - 28 AUGUST 2005 - THYBORON - HANSTHOLM
An almost no rain day and a very nice path in the middle of the forests, many time on gravel roads. Before the start I checked the Anna's rear rack finding she lost a bolt, so I fixed it with a piece of rope because I ran out of spare bolts.

DAY 07 - 29 AUGUST 2005 - HANSTHOLM - LOKKEN
Again We booked the Hotel from the local Tourist Office..and after 10 kms I lost Anna. I looked for her but after one hour I decided it was time lost because probably She was doing the same and so the probabilities to find us where deincreasing quickly. So I decided to cycle alone to Lokken with the hope Anna did the same. And infact when I arrived I saw Anna waiting for me. She had a puncture and being not able to fix it She stopped a German family's car and with Them She went to Lokken leaving the bike hidden behind a House. Last part of the trip was along a very huge beach that links Blokus with Lokken. We were lucky because both of us knew the name of the Hotel We booked otherwise I had to call somebody in Italy for having Anna's cell number that I forgot.

DAY 08 - 30 AUGUST 2005 - LOKKEN - SKAGEN
Anna took a cab to recover his bike and I stayed in Lokken until 11.00 a.m. when Anna got back. We fixed the puncture and I noticed it was the no glue Park Tools patch that did not work correctly. About at 12.00 We started to cycle to Skagen. After a steep descent my rear derailleur blend into the wheel taking a spoke that did not break. The chain was broken. So I had to change it and after one hour We could to keep on travelling to the North.

DAY 09 - 31 AUGUST 2005 - SKAGEN - FREDERIKSHAVN
Short bike transfer to the Denmark's northmost tip, at the end of Route n.1. Got back to Skagen where at the local bike shop We bought a bike computer, a tube and some bolts to fix both the rear racks. Then We went to Frederikshavn along National Bike Route N.5. Hotel 1987, here I mounted the new bike computer on the Anna's bike.

DAY 10 - 01 SPETMEBER 2005 - FREDERIKSHAVN - AALBORG
In the morning We met a Belgium biker who was coming from Norway with his Koga Randonneur bike and who was looking for a open café, in Denmark they use to open shops very late (generally past 9.00 a.m.) and they close at 5 p.m.. Restaurants also close early, after 9.30 p.m. it is difficult to find a spot where to have dinner. First We biked along local route n.61 an then We took National Bike Route n.3. In some sections We had to push our bikes because the path is very hard and steep, it was more a mountain bike path than a trekking path. Very beautifull weather all day long and some wind against. In Aalborg We chosen the Princess Hotel that has a marvellous ancient lift made of wood that still operates perfectly.

DAY 11 - 02 SEPTEMBER 2005 - AALBORG - VIBORG
After visiting local tourist office We cycled to Viborg at the beginnig under a cloudy sky but in the afternoon it was sunny. We sleeped in a Best Western hotel and We took our bikes inside the room.

DAY 12 - 03 SEPTEMBER 2005 - VIBORG - VEJLE
In the morning We bought a Ellen Bauer guide about route 3 (section Viborg - Hamburg). We had a very beautiful day. In Jelling We left route 3 and We went to Vejle. First We tried a Best Western but this time We found it too expensive so We got a room at Hotel Australia.

DAY 13 - 04 SEPTEMBER 2005 - VEJLE - HADENSLEV
We took local route n.55 to the South until Kolding and then National route 5 and local route 10 to Christiansfeld. Following the normal road finally We arrived in Hadenslev. Very sunny and hot all day long.

DAY 14 - 05 SEPTEMBER 2005 - HADENSLEV - TONDER
We closed our danish ring cycling slowly, first along local route n.7, then national route n.3 to Rodekho. From here with local route n.12 We arrived in Tonder where We found of course our car parked in the motel. Nice weather. At the end of our race it was very easy to say that Denmark is another biker's paradise. At evening by car We went to the other side of the border, in Germany, where in a local shop We bought four glasses to drink beer. It was longtime We were looking for some decent beer glasses.

DAY 15 - 06 SEPTEMBER - TRANSFER TO AMSTERDAM
We Went by car to historical town of Ribe and then to Amsterdam where We found a room at the Novotel Hotel. No bike today.

DAY 16 - 07 SEPTEMBER 2005 - AMSTERDAM BIKE - TRANSFER TO DIJON
We spent all the morning long in a faboulous bike tour in Amsterdam and in the afternoon We went to Dijon crossing Belgium and Luxembourg. After some attempt We found a nice room at Hotel Philippe Le Bon.

DAY 17 - 08 SEPTEMBER 2005 - CANAL DU CENTRE - HOME
From Dijon by car We went to Chalon sur Saone. We jumped over our bikes and We cycled along the Canal du Centre until Santanay and then back. In the late afternoon transfer to our home crossing the Mont Blanc Tunnel.
